Our first T20 of the season and we took a very strong team up to Parliament Hill to meet Woodstock, who won the toss and elected to bat. Awesome opening spells from Gopala and Sachin gave hardly any runs away apart from Richard grasping thin air behind the sticks as the speed was pretty rapid and the poor old boy had to wake up a bit. Shrini played too early at an off-spinning slower ball from Sachin, then Gopala produced a fast inswinger to remove Darren, shortly after followed by one that stayed a bit low to remove Lorne. Bob and Kevin offered stout resistance as Mahender and Guru took over, with Guru getting Bob to loft to Sachin for 14 then Mahender removing Charlie for a duck. We had 12 so John graciously agreed to play for Woodstock and batted really well until he found Gopala off Graham’s bowling. Nik got Lorne to hit one straight at Stuart, Stuart himself had the obstinate Kev caught by Debasis, and there was a modest target to chase, all of our bowlers getting wickets.
In reply, Debasis and Sachith were fantastic – big shots everywhere, Debasis retiring in next to no time. Nick played neatly until he was caught by a very good catch (John again) and then Graham belted a couple of sixes in an unbeaten 14 to see us home by 9 wickets.
